Jay Kesan’s work focuses on technology, law and business.  He is a Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He is an active and widely cited scholar.  As a technologist, his most recent work is on RFID technologies.  He is also an active empirical scholar, and his recent works have focused on cyber risk and patent policy.

Jay Kesan is a practicing Patent Attorney.  He has served as counsel in many patent lawsuits, in district court, at the Federal Circuit and at the PTAB.  He has also served as a technical expert in patent litigations in the areas of wireless technology and systems, communication systems, electronic commerce applications, smartphone technologies, software and microelectronics.

He is also an entrepreneur and works with technology start-up companies in many sectors and enjoys working with others to make them succeed.

He has a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D., summa cum laude from Georgetown University.
